#toptentitles Junior Wildcats

Although summer is more than half over for me, I still want to post the top ten of each section in my media center for the 2014-2015 school year.  It's always interesting to see what the kids enjoyed checking out the most and it's fun to share to see if anyone else finds the same trends in their libraries.

I am going to begin with the Junior Wildcat section. This section houses the K and 1st reading level books to make it easy for those beginning readers to find a "just right book."

No surprise that dogs books, Seuss books and Fly Guy books are on the list.  Last year's firsties were crazy about Fly Guy when they were kinders and that love didn't seem to go away just because they were a year older.

Number 10 was a tie between 6 different titles, 4 of which were Fly Guy books

Number 9 was a tie between 2 different titles, and of course Fly Guy was one of those titles

Number 8 was a tie between 2 Fly Guy books

Number 7 was an Elephant & Piggie book, also a favorite series of my kinders and firsties

Number 6 was yet another Fly Guy book

Number 5 was a famous book with a dog

Number 4 was a Dr. Seuss book

Number 3 was yet another Fly Guy book

Taking the number 2 spot was yet another Dr. Seuss classic

And the number 1 Junior Wildcat title checked out for the year

I did note how popular the Fly Guy books were last year and made a point to order more.  I am surprised that more Elephant & Piggie books weren't in the top ten, and that Biscuit books didn't even make it to the top ten.  I had to order more Elephant & Piggie books last year, too because they were very popular, as were Biscuit books.  I didn't receive those books until half way through the school year, so that could account for the lower check outs.

What are the most popular early readers in your library/media center?

  1. I always love these posts! Fly Guy of course is huge at our school. Elephant & Piggie is also big, but I partially attribute that to the fact that I did reader's theater with Elephant & Piggie with first grade this year. They couldn't get enough after that!

    1. I had not heard of Elephant & Piggie books before I became a Media Specialist...can you believe that?! I only learned about them after winning a grant from Target and First Book to order more items for the Media Center. I am sure glad I discovered them...and so are the kids. Thanks for reading and commenting. =)

  2. Fly Guy books and Biscuit are the most checked out and requested; however, Piggie and Elephant are also very popular!
