Where Did the Summer Go?

So, I've pretty much spent every free moment I've had in the MC getting it organized and ready.  I'm so excited to be able to post some before and after pics.  So here goes....

Table at the Entrance of the M.C.

Front of the M.C.
This is where I do Media lessons.  PreK-2nd  sit on the floor and 3rd-5th sit at the tables.

One of the two computer stations
I have 2 other computers across from these on the other column in the M.C.

The Circulation Desk
I removed a lot of the clutter and added a bit of decoration to break up all of the wood.

New Book Section in front of the "Kitchen" Area

Mr. Owl's Reading Corner
I added signs and some material panels to hide some of the empty shelves.

The Shelves
This is the main section of the M.C. where all of the books are.
I rearranged the bookcase and consolidated much of the non-fiction.

Weeded Books
I weeded 100s of books that had not been checked out since the county converted to an online catalog about 10 years ago, thus the shelves became even more empty than they already were.  Guess I have some book orders to do.

Wildcat Favorites
I decided to make a section of popular chapter books to make those books easy to find.

Well, that's about all for now.  I still have soooo much to do, but I feel like this has been a really good start.  I am trying to remember that it will grow into what I want it to be so I just need to be patient.  I have many more plans so stay tuned for more!

  1. Your signage is really snazzy. How did you create your lovely signs for your media center?

    1. Thanks! I am glad you like them. I use either Word or PrintMaster to create my items and then I use PrimoPDF to make them into PDFs. We have a poster maker at school so I can a make an 8 1/2 x 11 PDF into a large poster to place on the wall. I also use the Snipping Tool in Windows to "cut out" the pictures once I make them and save those as jpegs to post onto this blog. =)

  2. Love how you decorated the circulation desk- is it paper? How did you attach it? Looks great!

    1. Thanks! Yes, it is bulletin board paper. I just used masking tape to attach it. Lots and lots and lots of masking tape. I did the same thing last year and it stayed up all year without any problems, so I am hoping it will hold up this year, too. =)
