Bundles of Library Centers

Since I've been home recuperating from a broken leg, I've been able to make a few new bundles in my TpT store.  Now all my call number and shelf order center themes have been bundled by theme.  These themes include:

This bundle is great for celebrating the Super Bowl or for the start of football season in the fall.

This bundle is perfect for practicing call numbers and shelf order during the winter months

This bundle is great for February to celebrate Love to Read month, for March to celebrate Read Across America, and just as a general center year round.

And this bundle is perfect for practicing call numbers and shelf order for the week of  St. Patrick's Day.

By purchasing any of these bundles, you will save.

I've also combined all 4 themes into one HUGE bundle.  You save 20% by purchasing this bundle.  And there is a FREE BONUS FILE included!

Hope you enjoy these new bundles.

Lots of Fun Ways to Celebrate Reading in February!

I can't believe it's almost February already! There are so many ways to celebrate reading in February.  Here are just a few that things that I've done in the past.

I always try to decorate the media center each month with a theme. These fun book signs are perfect for Valentine's Day and they are FREE in my TpT store. Click HERE to download them.  I would love your feedback on them.

My kiddos LOVE, LOVE, LOVE bookmarks, so I always make sure to put out new ones each month. You can snag some free Valentine's Day bookmarks in my TpT store HERE.

Or if you want more variety, you can purchase this bigger pack HERE.

Sometimes I like to have my kiddos practice shelf order. These fun red and white shelf order and call number centers are perfect for that.  They also work for Read Across America centers.

Last year, I started celebrating Love to Read Month and created this fun pack to help with that.  It includes bulletin board ideas as well as center ideas and signs.  You can purchase it HERE in my TpT store.

Here's a picture of a bulletin board I created last year to highlight the best loved books in our media center for the year.  The signs (minus the pictures of the books) used to create this bulletin board are included in the Love to Read Month pack.

Some of the centers included in the Love to Read Month pack include this ABC order center that comes with directions and an answer key...

An I Spy center that comes with directions, an answer sheet and words you can print and hide in bottles of colored rice...  (To see directions on how to create an I Spy bottle, click HERE.)

A Book Words center that includes directions and an answer sheet (you will need to purchase extra items for this center including magnetic letter tiles and a metal cookie sheet)...

Create a bookmark which includes a direction sign, just add coloring tools and strips of blank paper...

And Name That Book which comes with a directions sign, guessing slips and a sign for the top of the jar that the book scraps are placed in.  For this center, you will need to shred pages of a weeded book and place them in a clear container.

I've recently created a SUPER bundle of all of these resources to help you save. This bundle includes the Valentine's Day themed display signs, bookmarks, the Love to Read Month pack, and both the red and white call number and shelf order centers.  Click HERE to check it out.

Christmas Freebies and Center Ideas

Ho! Ho! Ho!  It's been awhile, but I am back with a few quick freebies for you.

I love reading How Santa Got His Job by Stephen Krensky with my littles. It's fun to make the voices of Santa and the elves in the story.  After reading the story, we talk about the story elements of character and plot.

I have posted this freebie before on my blog, but I have recently updated some of the clipart on this freebie and you can now find it in my TpT store.  Just click HERE to snag it now.

While your looking for Christmas books, you might want to set up some Christmas book displays.  Here are some free signs to help you with your displays.  Just click HERE to download them from my Teacher's Dojo store.  If you download them, I'd love to have your feedback on them.  =)

And what Christmas would be complete without some fun Christmas bookmarks?

You can download this set of 4 free bookmarks from my Teacher's Dojo store by clicking HERE.

And if you like those and want more, you can purchase a larger pack of 24 Christmas bookmarks HERE.  This set includes 16 colored book marks and 8 black and white bookmarks for your kiddos to color.

And if you are looking for some center ideas, these red and white call number sorting center and shelf order center might be just what you are looking for. With the red and white decor, they could also work for Read Across America.  You can find them in my TpT store.  Just click on the pictures to go straight to that product.

If you prefer, there is also a snowman/winter version of each of these:

Hope you enjoy!

Centers for Super Bowl Fans

I'm sooooo not a football fan.  If I watch the Super Bowl at all, it's for the commercials.  However, many of my patrons are big football fans, so I thought I would take advantage of that and make some centers with a football theme.

I created a football themed call number sorting center where students must determine what section that call number would belong in: Easy (or Everybody/Everyone), Fiction, or Non-fiction.  You can check out this center HERE in my TpT store.

I also created a football themed shelf order center where students must put the cards in shelf order.  I made 3 different levels for Easy (or Everybody/Everyone), Fiction (with both FIC and F options) and Non-fiction.  You can check out this center HERE in my TpT store.

Both sets come with color and black and white options to save on ink.  You could print the black and white on colored paper or cardstock to make it more fun.  I have laminated my pieces so that they will last longer.

Both centers will be 50% through midnight (EST) tonight, so grab 'em up now.

I am pairing these centers with a lesson on the Sports and Leisure genre.  I thought to make it more fun, I would let them see if they could sort the cards Minute-to-Win-It style.  I found a fun countdown clock on YouTube that I show.

I changed the call numbers on both of these centers so that students who had previously played the Winter themed centers would have a fresh set of cards.  I have used both sets with two fourth grade classes already.  They liked the timer and it made them realize how important it is to keep the shelves neat because it takes a while to put books in the correct order.  I really think the other classes are going to enjoy it, too.

Happy PreSuper Bowl Week!

Winter Themed Shelf Order Center

I think I seriously have a problem.  I am so addicted to the adorable winter clip art that I just had to make another center activity with it

This pack includes practice for E, FIC (or F), and Non-fiction in 3 different levels for each (easy, average, and challenge). It includes both color and black and white options to save on ink.  You can check out this new center pack in my Teacher's Dojo store by clicking HERE.

Winter Themed Call Number Sorting Center

I think the cold weather has gotten to me.

I am seriously obsessed with the cute winter clipart I used to make THESE bookmarks

and THESE winter signs

and THESE centers.

So guess what I made?  Another center/activity. This is a call number sorting center.

It comes with 12 sorting cards for the E, FIC (or F), and Non-fiction sections.  Students sort the cards by the section in which they belong. There is a recording sheet for students to write down their answers.  Or have them place the cards on a poster or under the section labels as a fun lesson activity.  I've even included a center sign with directions and answer sheets.  And I made everything in both color and black and white so you can save ink.

Check out this new center pack in my Teacher's Dojo store and let me know what you think. Just click HERE.
