Read Across America and World Read Aloud Day

Dr. Seuss is on the Loose in our Media Center for Read Across America!  I've set up some fun Seuss centers for classes to complete as they come to the Media Center for Read Across America this week.

You can read more about these centers on my previous posts, here and here.

We recently received a huge book order from Permabound, so I worked really hard and got all the books processed and ready to put out to celebrate Read Across America Day!  The kids are going to be so excited!

I've decorated the MC doors with some of my favorite Seuss characters and I will also be reading some of my favorite Seuss stories to the PreK, K, and 1 classes during their lesson time.

World Read Aloud Day is coming up on March 5.  You can find out about this fun day on the LitWorld site. There are even free downloads of activities you can use to plan ideas to celebrate. You can find those here.  We plan to celebrate with some fun guest readers.

We have invited some special dads and other male community readers to come read to our classes on March 5, and to show that reading is cool, they are going to wear pink shirts that say "REAL MEN READ."

We are also hoping to participate in some fun Skype storytimes lessons throughout the week.  We are going to connect with several schools in our county to share stories.

What are your plans for RAA and WRAD?

  1. I love your Dr. Seuss decorations! So creative!

    1. Thanks! I just recycled them from a couple of years ago. So glad that I took the time to laminate them now. It made decorating super quick this year.
